A high-end Japanese restaurant in New York, NY is seeking a General Manager.

<Job Overview>
The General Manager is the steward of standard at every unit. You are responsible for the totality of the guest experience, the performance of every team member, and the financial and operational integrity of your location. You lead by example — on the floor, in feedback, and in culture.

<Job Description>
• Oversee the overall daily operations of the restaurant
• Manage the full guest experience from reservation through farewell
• Maintain high service standards during every shift
• Conduct pre-shift briefings, including reservations, team notes, KPIs, and service focus • Manage daily opening and closing procedures
• Oversee inventory management, ordering, and vendor coordination
• Monitor labor cost, COGS, revenue, and overall restaurant performance • Report weekly operational updates to the Chief Operating Officer
• Ensure compliance with California labor laws, food safety regulations, and ABC licensing requirements • Hire, onboard, train, and develop FOH and BOH team members
• Conduct monthly KPI reviews and provide structured feedback • Manage coaching, performance issues, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy • Build a team culture rooted in Omotenashi, Kando, Wa, and Kaizen
• Coordinate with HR regarding offers, staffing changes, separations, and compliance matters • Maintain strong floor presence and lead the team by example • Handle guest concerns and service recovery with professionalism
• Track and respond to guest feedback • Conduct service debriefs after each service • Perform other duties as assigned by management

• Fine dining or luxury hospitality management
• Guest service and service recovery skills
• Team leadership, coaching, and staff development
• Labor cost, COGS, revenue, and P&L management
• Inventory management, ordering, and vendor coordination
• Knowledge of California labor law, food safety, and alcohol service compliance
• POS systems, scheduling platforms, and reservation management tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Knowledge of Japanese culinary culture and luxury hospitality standards preferred

<Requirements>
• Minimum 5 years of progressive hospitality leadership experience
• Minimum 2 years of General Manager experience in a fine dining or luxury restaurant concept preferred
• Demonstrated experience with P&L management and labor cost control
• Business-level English communication skills required
• Japanese language skills preferred
• Ability to manage both FOH and BOH teams
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
